eContracts TC Report, 10 January 2005

This quarter we went back to first principles and derived a set of
business needs that would drive the rest of a requirements document.
This is a particularly difficult task for electronic contracts because
XML representations of contracts have such a variety of disparate
applications throughout the contract life cycle.

Requirements can be considered to fall into areas of contract drafting,
contract management, and contract negotiation. All of these
(overlapping) areas impose their own sets of often distinct
requirements.

Currently the draft is being circulated to the TC members for review and 
additions by members in their individual areas of interest and/or 
expertise. With this foundation we intend to complete the requirements 
document this quarter.
