John, all, I understand your position that an election would not change the expected outcome. But, because the process calls for an election, we announced an election; to not have an election would seem like a change of process midway through. While we see that kind of process change frequently in some quasi-democratic countries, we prefer to follow the stated process through--so as to avoid the association with quasi-democracy. The process does continue with announcements, a few ballots cast in affirmation and an announcement. The good news is little to no "politicking" need be done, no bumper stickers, poster, billboards etc. Scott... >
