Greetings LegalXML SC members, As you know, the Member Section policy has been updated significantly,  This revised policy [1] dramatically improves the SC election process. Here are three important things to consider as this plays out for your SC. first - all SC Elections will now be held in September.  Below is a table showing revised expiration times for your seats. Second-- when your nomination period opens (scheduled for 2-15 September) we will announce a number of open seats as determined by your ROP and the MS Policy.  Unfortunately, there is some discrepancies between the new policy and your ROP, so we need to be creative. (see below for how I propose to resolve the ROP problems) ,  I imagine the nominations would be seeking 3 candidates. Third -- If 3 (or whatever the number of open seats) or fewer candidates emerge from the nomination period we would not hold an election, because it couldn't change the outcome. Staff declares those candidates as selected and we are done.  If there is a contest, the elections would be held 16-30 September. Short-term solution for the ROP issues: Your ROP calls for 3 or 4 elected at-large SC members in addition to the TC appointed members.  I expect therefore we will then call for 3 candidates.  Another significant issue is your ROP has a 3 year term limit for all SC members, I propose you drop that as there is no term limit imposed on SC appointed members.  Unless I hear support for continuing the term-limit by the time the nominations open, I will presume it will be removed when we complete the process to change the ROP, which can happen in parallel with the nomination and election process.
