This is what I understand in the end. The Lourve Labs scenario would look something like this: 1) 5 Minute Introduction/Overview by Louvre Labs -- this could be with presentation slides or without. 2) 10 minutes -- Collaborative editing scenarion with OFS and OpenOffice with Plugin. Would use one or more of the Louvre Labs text documents. We then state that in a real deployment, the OFS documents could be accessed over the network via WebDAV. But for convenience in this demo, we have copied the results locally. 3) 15 minutes - Luis and lpOD. Show what can be done to the Louvre Labs document collection using lpOD. Main demonstration will be to automatically generate a presentation file from the Louvre Labs text documents, and then show how the template for the presentation can be programmatically changed. 4) 5 minutes - The presentation would be loaded in KOffice, where it would be edited to add author name and vCard/RDF. 5) 10 minutes -- The resulting presentation is then loaded and shown in other ODF applications: OpenOffice, Symphony, GoOO, MS Office. etc., whatever works well. At the very end we show the presentation in FreOffice and show how the vCard metadata can be accessed to allow the smart phone to call the author. Now, for this to work, there are tasks that need to be accomplished, including some technical interoperability pieces that we need to verify. We need to verify these ASAP. 1) Charles or Luis -- We need to tell the Louvre Labs person that we want them to give a 5 minute introduction to the scenario, probably just an overview of what their group does and why ODF and documents are important to them. Please confirm ASAP. 2) Carl/OSF -- Need to design your scenario for your 10 minutes. Since network support may be marginal, you should plan to give the demo on a single self-contained machine, i..e, OFS and OpenOffice on same machine. Can you do this? 3) Carl/OSF, You need to confirm that OFS works well with at least one of the Louvre Labs sample documents we distributed earlier. Please confirm. 4) Carl/OSF, We need a copy of the resulting document after OSF processes a Louvre Labs document. In other words, we need the output from your part of the demo. We need to make sure that it does not cause any unexpected problems for the next step, which is Luis/lpOD. 5) Luis/lpOD. You need to verify that your presentation-generating code works fine when including the OSF-processed ODF file. 6)) Luis/lpOD, You need to provide a version of the lpOD-generated presentation file, ASAP, so KOffice can verify that it can works with KPresenter. Ideally you would test your code with OpenOffice and KOffice as you work on your piece. 7) Inge/Jos/KOffice, You need to provide to Luis/lpOD and to Suresh/Nokia an example of a presentation file from KOffice with a vCard embedded in it via RDF. If this can be done at the global (document) level, for example as the document author, this would be ideal. 8) Inge/Jos/KOffice. You need to verify that you can read the presentation file that Luis/lpOD is producing. Please try the sample file he provides and let him know directly if you have any problems. 9) Suresh/FreOffice, You need to verify that you can read/process the presentation file that KOffice writes out. At minimum look for a good visual rendering. But also check to see if you can access the vCard metadata and do something "interesting" with it. 10) Everyone else (Thorsten, MingFei, Oliver), verify that you can also render the presentation that KOffice will write out. 11) Inge/Jos/KOffice -- Please send Luis/lpOD an example of a good-looking presentation template that works well with KOffice, maybe one from a KDE aKademy. Obviously we have a chain of dependencies here, so it is urgent that the first steps get done so we can enable progress on the later pieces. Regards, -Rob
