This issue is closely related to OFFICE-3438, a subtask of OFFICE-2732.

(1) This behaviour has been incorporated in the resolution of OFFICE-3438.
(2) The reporter is completely correct that "If one single value, it is applied to all." is nonsense. It has been removed in the resolution of OFFICE-3438.

I believe the editorial comments (3) to (9) have been superceded by the resolution of OFFICE-3438.
