That is it says "Character content of a paragraph," the subject we are talking about, "which is also contained," that is the subject "Character content of a paragraph," not the paragraph but the "character content" of a paragraph. 

Hmmm, let me know if that helps. If not, you may be right, we may have to use Michael's resolution.
