Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3731) Public Comment: polynomial regression curve in charts
[ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3731?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=30688#action_30688 ]
Andreas Guelzow commented on OFFICE-3731:
------------------------------------------
Gnumeric is currently saving polynomial regression info into ODF files using foreign elements, eg.:
<style:chart-properties chart:regression-type="gnm:polynomial" gnm:regression-polynomial-dims="2" gnm:regression-affine="true" chart:lines="true"/>
Note that specifying a minimum degree as suggested in the proposal attached to the message would destroy any chance of a unique regression curve. (For example for data that lies on a straight line there is no unique best fit truly quadratic regression.)
