These attributes do not have to occur in pairs. So I ma not sure that conditioning the sentence on them being contained in a common style is quite correct. I think we mean: "If one of these attributes is contained in a common style, its value may be a percentage."

I have no idea what the following means:
"For some applications. these two properties must be used simultaneously."
 How can that 'must' be normative in any sense without more specific definition of 'some applications'.
