Just a reminder that the XML.org DITA Focus Area Editorial Board has a conference call today at 2:00 pm ET, conference line:

Proposed agenda:

1. Mission and goals of the site

2. Roles and responsibilities

OASIS staff
--Mechanics and site maintenance (IT, wiki for collaborative pages, authoring interface for static pages) 
--Graphic design (page layout, logo, etc.) 
--Promotion (press release at launch, coverage in newsletters, mail lists, etc.) 
--Sponsorship (identifying sponsors, posting logos, etc.)

XML.org DITA Focus Area Editorial Board
--Site map (determine what pages/functionality are needed and appropriate) 
--Static pages content (creation and maintenance) 
--Wiki content oversight (removing inappropriate posts on a regular basis)

Public
--Wiki content submission


3. Focus Area Sponsorship
--open to any OASIS member
--5K/year
--linked company logo on all pages of the Focus Area 
--logo and description on Sponsor page 
--portion of the sponsorship fees will be allocated for DITA promotional activities, as recommended by the OASIS DITA TC 


4. Editorial Board Operations
--Editorial Board is open to any OASIS member.
--Focus Area sponsorship is not required to participate in edboard.
--Editorial Board may elect to invite non-TC members to participate or advise if special expertise is needed.
--Editorial Board should seek participation from user organizations, TC members if possible.
--Focus Area will include a page with bios of active Editorial Board members.
--Each Editorial Board member will assume responsibility for ongoing oversight (policing) of one or more pages on the site.
--A chair or co-chair should be appointed to lead the Editorial Board.


5. Editorial policy
Carol Geyer to draft policy and provide to group. Some points include:
--Site is provided for open information sharing, exchange of ideas, community support.
--Specification development should take place within the OASIS DITA TC (main or through Subcommittees) not on XML.org.
--Content on static pages must be non-commercial, reflective of the work of the OASIS DITA TC.
--Wiki content should be objective in tone, advertising copy and hyperbole should be discouraged. (Instructions for appropriate
content should be provided on-site.) 
--Public must register before editing wiki pages.
--OASIS reserves the right to remove any content it deems inappropriate, inaccurate, or misleading in any way.
--OASIS reserves the right to deny future posting privileges to anyone who violates the Editorial Policy.
