DITA XML.org Focus Area Editorial Board
Meeting Minutes

Attending: Jerry, Don, Michael, Scott, Jen, Carol, Bruce
Board set target launch date of the site for 27 Feb.
Team discussed items posted at dita.xml.org/editorial-board-issues:
1. Major Issues for Board Discussion
1. JS: "book" versus "story" for KB and Community pages
* Resolved to continue with this, add Drupal support for wiki pages, and split Community into two sections to differentiate uniform
posting pages from collaborative wiki pages. Greg to demo taxonomy to Board at (or before) next call.
2. JH: Consider how to begin populating the KB pages
Editorial Board will review page list and responsibilities. Team will attempt to craft a few paragraphs of explanatory text for each
KB page. KB pages may also include links to a few external sites that cover the topic in greater detail. The external links will
also be featured in the Community pages.
3. JH: Revise the descriptions for uniformity and conformance to style suggestions
* http://dita.xml.org/styleguide is a start for this. Editorial Board members should review and add to this page as necessary.
4. CG: Do we want the "add new comment" link to appear?
* Carol has disabled this to prevent confusion at launch. We can add it back later if we find it's useful.
2. Nits for Board Discussion
1. CG: consider renaming "Publications" page to "White Papers/Books" just to be more clear.
* Board decided to combine "Publications" with "Other Resources," as the items are so closely related. Carol to suggest a new name
for this page.
2. CG: shouldn't FAQ be a Community wiki page? Why not let users add questions (and answers even) to a living document? Links for
the TC's FAQ and other FAQs and Fact Sheets could go on the Other Resources page.
* Discussed, but not resolved.
3. Issues for IT
1. JH: Move calendar up.
2. CG: Anchor tags
3. Instructions for using the fckeditor?
* Board added ability to select text using IE.
Top Priorities
1. Get content on KB pages. (Ed Board)
2. Evaluate navigation options--taxonomies, wiki, etc. (Ed Board)
3. Enable forms for input to News, Events, Products (IT)
4. Finalize graphic design. (IT)
