JoAnn and I talked and I think we're in sync.
We added links at the bottom of the article to the Forum and the poll, so
hopefully people who read the article will post comments on the Forum. Our
standard "add comment" link still appears at the bottom of the article--there's
no way to turn that off.
On the Forum itself, the link to the article appears in the first post (from
me). We can't link the forum "topic" to the article, since forum topics are
auto-links to posts within the forum.
If there's a better way to do this, let me know.
Meanwhile, we have 84 reads to the article and counting. I *really* like this
<soapbox> idea.

Carol,
On the Forum page, the title of the article does not link to the
article.
Call me to go over this if you have a minute.

Sorry to be dense. I don't understand where the confusion is coming
from. Jen,
when you say "I'm not sure how to get from this URL to the text of the
article"
which URL do you mean? When you say you've posted a comment, which page
did you
post a comment to?
Here's what I see (but maybe it just makes sense to me because I did
it):
1) The homepage has two links to JoAnn's article--under <soapbox>, the
title of
the article and the words "feature article" are both linked to the full
story.
Are you seeing that?
2) The Transitional Text Forum at http://dita.xml.org/forum/85 has two
posts--from me and JoAnn. In the first sentence of my post, "Read 'Do We
Really
Need All that Glue?' then share your...", the title of the article is
linked to
the full story.
What am I missing that you're missing?

P.S. The good news is, the article already has had 49 reads.

I also can't actually find JoAnn's article either. I seem to toggle
between
different views of the intro teaser.

Carol,
I just added a comment. However, I'm not sure how to get from this URL
to the text of the article. Shouldn't it be more obvious to new users?

The Transitional Text poll and forum (http://dita.xml.org/forum/85) are
both
up. Please review and let me know if they look okay. I seeded the Forum
with a
first post, but JoAnn, you might want to replace/edit that with your own
message as forum "host".
Seth should be adding the soapbox to the homepage today. When that's up,
JoAnn,
can you post a message to dita-users and encourage people to visit the
site?
