Carol et al.
There is fee from the hotel in Boston for a wireless connection to the
Internet. Lisa Lambert is going to find out how much it is and get back
to Carol. We don't think it's very much.

Subject: [dita-fa-edboard] Minutes: 8 Feb DITA XML.org Editorial Board
Call
Attending: Don, Scott, JoAnn, Carol, Deb
Chair: JoAnn
Minutes: Carol
1) <soapbox>
"Content Repurposing" by France Baril is confirmed for the next
<soapbox>, which will be published around March.
Following that (hopefully) will be Amber's "If you use DITA, do you need
an information architect?" in June.
2) Promoting Forums
Board decided to remove "Blog headlines" on homepage (since "Blogs" are
covered in the right nav").
Board decided to replace "News headlines" with "Recent posts" and
include links to the 10 most recent News and Forum posts. Board will
re-evaluate this change in a few months, to see if it increases use of
the Forums.
3) Speakers Bureau
Board discussed new wiki page at http://dita.xml.org/speakers. We agreed
more functionality (searchable fields for region, availability, etc.)
would be advantageous, but we don't want to invest the time in
implementing this until we have a better idea of whether or not it will
be used.
AI: Carol will add three subheads to the page: Users, Vendor
Representatives, Consultants, and provide more guidance for listing.
(done)
AI: Editorial Board members who serve as speakers will seed this page by
adding their own profiles.
AI: Carol will see if Drupal offers any kind of speakers bureau module.
4) Deployments page
Board acknowledged that while many are asking for this kind of
information, people are often hesitant about publicly declaring their
use of DITA (competitive sensibilities and other reasons). Scott asked
DITA users groups to add content here, but so far, we've had no takers.
AI: Editorial Board members will try to seed the page as they are able
(Comtech and IBM already did).
AI: Carol and JoAnn will investigate possibility of featuring a computer
in the OASIS booth at CMS/DITA NA and trying to get attendees to post on
the spot, "Find out who else is using DITA, add your name to the list"
5) DitaStorm
Board members may want to provide feedback to Bob on the ditausers site
individually.
We still want to explore integrating DitaStorm with Drupal, but it will
take effort.
AI: Carol will invite a DitaStorm rep to join the Editorial Board or
simply to attend our March Edboard call.
6) DITA at OASIS Symposium in April
Bob Beims, Chip Gettinger, and JoAnn Hackos will present. There will be
a F2F TC meeting on Wednesday morning.
7) Edboard chair
This topic was tabled until next month.
Next Editorial Board call:
8 March 2007
2:00-3:00 pm ET
