Re: [dita-fa-edboard] RE: Transitioning DITA XML.org to DITA Adoption

Dear Editorial Board members:

At today's meeting of the DITA Adoption Committee, I agreed to chair a subcommittee that will focus on the dita.xml.org focus area. Several people -- Gershon Joseph, Bob Thomas, Scott Tsao, David Hollis, and Brenda Oakley -- also agreed to participate. Su-Laine wasn't on today's call, but I sent her a personal e-mail asking if she will participate.

Two questions for all of you:
  1. Are you interested in being part of this new subcommittee? Your continued participation would be marvelous. (If you are not members of the DITA Adoption Committee, you would need to join.)
  2. Are you willing to either spend a few minutes on the telephone with me or shoot me an e-mail with your thoughts? I am interested in what the Ed Board did well and what didn't work, particular pain points that the new subcommittee needs to address, any quick fixes that we could make to improve usability, etc.
Thanks again for all the work that you've put into making dita.xml.org a valuable community resource.

Best,

Kris

Hi Carol,
I've asked the Adoption TC to consider forming a subcommittee for the
EdBoard. We have several of the same members -- Kay, Kris Eberlein,
Su-Laine. I don't think we can include Bob or Don. Don isn't a member of
the Adoption TC but could certainly join to participate in the EdBoard.
Same for Bob, who would be most welcome.

I'd like to get some new members with energy for this activity. Would
you be able to join our meeting on Monday 18 August to describe the
activities we want help with? I know you've been discouraged at the
level of participation because everyone is so busy. We all have good
intentions but often business demands come first.

Thanks for all you've done for the focus area. Let's see if we can liven
things up. At Monday's meeting I mentioned the myths page and asked
people to consider contributing.

Thanks,
JoAnn

JoAnn,
How would you like us to handle the transition of the DITA XML.org
EdBoard to the DITA Adoption Committee? We can give EdBoard members a
deadline (two weeks?) to join the Committee, then discontinue use of the
dita-fa-edboard@lists.xml.org mailing list. Keeping both lists active
will cause confusion.

Carol
