Excellent. Student projects are often where really exciting things happen.
Until this year I was external examiner at SBU and there were some very
nice projects. You'll have to work quite hard but it will be worth it.

By far the best places to start are the two complementary web pages:
	- http://www.sil.org/sgml/xml.html run by Robin Cover (OASIS)
	- http://www.ucc.ie/xml FAQ run by Peter Flynn.
These have links to everywhere. So if you look for software, programs, etc.
you'll find lots. and there are some very good collections of programs,
examples, tutorials, etc.

One of the key skills of XML is never to duplicate something if you don't
have to. So we link to information rather than mentioning it explicitly. So
you might want to look at xml-l which often has more general info that
xml-dev. But I shan't tell you how to find it - that would be duplication :-)

	P.

If you manage to do something really new, you will find people are
interested. There are huge uncharted areas for XML to open up. If you have
a personal interest/hobby it may be that XML can support that. For example,
one thing discussed on XML-DEV has been genealogy (family histories). But
XML could support almost anything that can be cleanly described and a good
deal that can't.
