Work on XLinkFilter has progressed again. XLinkFilter can now identify the
starting locations of inline elements using (simple) XPointers, making it
easier to create XLink applications without having to put id attributes all
over documents.
A new component, the LocationFilter, also extends SAX ParserFilter, and
keeps track of where in the document each element is. LocationFilter may
prove a useful component by itself in other applications that need to
bridge SAX-event processing with later reference to the document tree.
XLinkFilter is now available under the Mozilla Public License and source is
readily downloaded. I hope to start issuing distributions of files rather
than updates to each file sometime this week, but jar archives containing
all the code (including the two examples I have so far) are currently
available. If anyone builds an application using XLinkFilter, please let me
know and I'll gladly throw you a link. More information is available at
http://www.simonstl.com/projects/xlinkfilter/.
