Sridhar,
XML Convert 1.1 can not do this.
I may add this capability to a future version
of XML Convert, since you are not the first
person to ask for this.
Currently, the XFlat language
does not allow you to map a field value
to the PCDATA content of the element to
which the record maps.
You can use an XSLT processor (e.g., Jame Clark's XT)
and the following simple stylesheet to transform the
2nd XML document above into the desired XML document:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
version="1.0">
<xsl:template match="newfld">
<xsl:value-of select="."/>
</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="@*|*">
<xsl:copy>
<xsl:apply-templates select="@*|*"/>
</xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
Hope this helps.
