And Perl and Tcl programmers use UTF-8, and Visual Basic, VBScript,
and JScript programmers use UTF-16.  (And Python programmers use a
future version of Python.)

I'm still not sure I'd want to do it in Visual Basic (but that's my
general reaction to Visual Basic anyway).
