Dave,

Tossing a product that you're bored with, aren't investing in, and
that never attracted much user interest in the first place over the
open source fence is not the way to build a developer community. If
you're not interested in pursuing it, why should anybody else be?
Open source is a way to multiply the effort you're putting into a
project. If the value you're putting into a project is effectively
zero, then zero is what you'll get in return. If you want to see some
real open source advantages you have to open source a product you're
developing and that people are actually using. Frontier would be a
good choice. But some random unsupported project from a few years ago
that nobody used in the first place? That's not going to take off.

If you're serious about MacBird, then YOU need to start working on
it. Or pay people to do so. When you've produced something usable,
interesting, and useful to the community then other people will start
contributing back to it. But not before then.
