I'm reading the book at the moment and I thought exactly the same thing. As with Anton, I have no idea why this relatively minor inconsistency is in any way important enough for me to think about (or even for me to be writing this message now).
Incidentally, from what I've read so far, it's a great book that I would recommend to anyone that is relatively new to XML.
