   General Fields in Schemas

When creating a schema (in this case, XDR) what is
the best way to denote a so-called, General field?
Using Visual FoxPro, this is defined to contain
images, sounds, etc. typically OLE objects.

In SGML, I would have declared a NOTATION attribute
and declaration for these which would indicate
the actual format and a processor for it on the
local system. Is this still the case?
