Whoops - I certainly am *not* a lawyer.
The para I found was not the point of the patent. The point appears to
be to improve on a teletext-type device by using Lynx type single-digit
shortcuts instead of a full length digital address.
Every description of operator input in the patent specifies a keypad,
but I suppose BT are relying on the first sentence of the final
paragraph catch-all
"Although the invention has been described with reference to a specific
embodiment it will be appreciated that modifications can be made to the
system described without departing from the invention. In particular,
the numbers of digits making up each part of a block of information may
differ from those described. The memory B may be duplicated, with one
memory B located in the computer 1 and the other in the terminal."
Still looks dead to me.
