Dear colleagues
The new release of Unicorn Formatting Objects (version 1.00.01) is
available. It implements the substantial subset of the Extensible
Stylesheet Language (XSL) Version 1.0 specification (W3C Workung Draft
27 March 2000). The product is optimized for composition of
business-style documents (e.g., catalogs, orders, invoices, banking
statements, etc). Two alternative rendering engines - TeX and HTML - are
supported now.
The most prominent new feature in this release is the support for HTML
rendering engine. The powerful XSL Formatting technology can be used now
for both printing XML documents on the traditional media and publishing
them on the Web. For each particular document class, a unified set of
parameterized XSL stylesheets capable of both printing and Web
publishing can be designed.
In the new release, support for several more XSL formatting objects and
properties is introduced. The appropriate fallbacks are implemented for
all formatting objects that are not yet supported. At this phase, the
design was focused on achieving the interoperability with other existing
XSL implementations (in particular, with PassiveTex).
The software is free (see the license included in the distribution) and
can be obtained at

It runs on Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95.
Kind regards,
Alexey Gokhberg
