This would work, but what about a rule like the more complex one I
mentionned: 

 stdtitle: stddes*, stddesmo?, reaf?, stdcoll?, titlemod?, rev?, title+

I think a clean solution probably involves generating the XSLT stylesheet
on the fly, either using XSLT or Perl, but it will still require coding
the + ? * and | features of regexps.
