Using XSLT to verify the existence of a URL

[craig.patterson@police.wa.gov.au]

I have a XSLT stylesheet that generates a URL string as part of its output.

However I need to check if the generated URL actually resolves to something
before outputting it.
I tried using the document() function without success.

Is this possible in XSLT?
