Wow...
And I thought _EVERYONE_ knew he was being sarcastic... From paying attention to Len's _past_ posts, I don't see how anyone could have imagined it differently..
But then again, I've always been naieve that way. :-)~

Hiyas.
A sarcastic comment in the midst of a post is one thing, pursuing sarcasm as
the made mode of discourse throughout a thread is simply the intellectual
equivalent of masturbation. Fine in private company but gets to become
distasteful if pursued in public among strangers.
Sarcasm is also the ultimate emergency escape called upon when one can't
substantiate a position.
Standards are not a new thing, have been around for quite a while, and are
not yet a political mandate. The adoption of most standards is remarkably
organic. One might look for instance at XSLT and XSL:FO that first split due
to public pressure, leaving one later to atrophy.
The ultimate irony is to find somebody disparaging standards as a dirty
word, then advocating that everybody use the one OS to facilitate progress.
Of course the reading has to determine whether the person pursuing this
argument is being deliberately ironic.
Cheers
Guy.
