More off topic: Reminds me of Garrison Keillor (American humorist and radio
show host, if anyone doesn't know) telling how ice fisherman in his
Minnesota hometown decide who among them will be the first to go out on the
ice in his pickup truck to make sure it's safe for everyone else. They just
choose the guy who last went through the ice, figuring the chances of the
same guy going through twice are pretty slim. ;)  (Granted, in the penguin
case, the last penguin to get eaten by a predator is no longer around to try
again!)

Off topic aside;-

Whilst it's well known how a pack of penguins will wait for another to enter
the water before they do for fear of predators, it was less known how they
solve the problem of who enters the water first.

It turns out they solve the problem nicely by pushing one into the water
first and seeing what happens...
