I think I understand now what you are say (note the "think" :-).
You are saying you would like to have the XML parser stop people
feeding in streams of bytes that are in the wrong encoding. By
not allowing certain values that you feel people wont want to
use very often, if its in the wrong encoding its more likely to
be picked up as an error by the parser.
If I have understood your desire, I guess we differ here. I would
rather see XML (that claims to support Unicode) support all of Unicode.
I *personally* don't feel that prohibiting valid Unicode characters
from appearing in documents is worth the benefit of protecting people
against feeding in data in the wrong encoding.
But I think I understand your point of view - and I don't get to make
the final decision :-)
