This definition of class is 'a set of items of a type', e.g. {2, 3, 5, 7, ...}

The OOP and quoted SGML definitions are 'the type of an item', e.g. 'prime number'

Given the context of this discussion is a semiformal definition or the term, this 
is a significant distinction.
