I've been reflecting on XML, and a lot of the work I've done over the
last 7 years or so, especially with regards standards etc.
I've come to realize that we're debating the same things we were in
1994/1995, and that while some things are better, there are still big
gaps.
I've also come to realize that most of the efforts now are on things I
personally don't think are of much long-term significance, and things
different from those that motivated me to participate in the
development of the WWW (HTML/HTTP/XML/XSL/XLink/DOM/etc.) in the
first place. The really big things are already done.... until next
time around.
In the big scheme of things, I feel most of the points of discussion
on xml-dev this year have been pretty much totally irrelevant....
mostly brownian motion among molecules of a much larger creature that
has a mind of it's own.
It's time for me to stop wasting time in brownian motion, so...
goodbye and thanks for all the quips ;-)
