I missed this when Mike posted it.

Technically, the non-XML syntax for RELAX NG is strictly James Clark's
invention, and has no official status.  However, the RELAX NG TC has
decided that there will be an official syntax, and it wouldn't be
astonishing if it looked a lot like James's.
