Yes, most XSLT processors allow you to call external user-written functions.
The general mechanism is defined in the XSLT recommendation, but the
detailed bindings, and the languages available, depend on the processor you
are using. You seem to be in a Microsoft environment, the usual technique
with MSXML is to use Javascript via the <msxsl:script> element.
