Title: Announce: XSLT Performance seminar in Brussels

XSLT Performance seminar
with Michael Kay, author of Saxon!
organised by XML BeLux
sponsored by Software AG

What to expect from this seminar?

If you have any experience in XSLT processing, you will probably be familiar with problems in performance and speed in XSLT processing. Quite frustrating, particularly if you don't know how to overcome these problems.

Interested in first-hand tips to improve matters? In that case, you should definitely consider attending the XSLT Performance seminar with Michael Kay.

In this seminar, XSLT processing will be dealt with from both an internal implementation perspective and from a user perspective. The following items will be treated:

§ the construction of an XSLT processor
§ tips to write more efficient and robust code by means of an easy to use checklist with do's and don'ts
§ the different ways XSLT can be deployed within an overall application architecture
§ the role of XSLT processing in relation to other technologies, such as relational and XML databases
§ examples relevant to popular XSLT processors such as Microsoft MSXML and Apache Xalan, as well as the speaker's own Saxon product.

The speaker will concentrate on technologies available today, but he will also glance at the impact of new functionalities in XSLT 2.0, XPath 2.0, and XQuery 1.0.

Who should come to the seminar?
This seminar is aimed at everybody who wants to obtain a more thorough knowledge of XSLT, the XML transformation language.

Although the focus is on performance, the event will also be useful if you don't have any performance problems. Because it will help you to understand the process of XML transformation in much greater depth, you will be able to use the technology to the full in your applications.

Developers with some XML and XSLT experience will find it most useful, but the seminar will also be of great help if you are still assessing which XML technologies are most appropriate to your needs.

About the speaker
Dr. Michael Kay is a systems architect working for Software AG, based in the UK. He is best known in the XML world as the developer of the open source XSLT processor Saxon, and as the author of the Wrox Press book XSLT Programmers Reference. Dr. Michael Kay represents Software AG on the W3C XSL and XQuery working groups. On top of that, he is also the editor of the draft XSLT 2.0 specification.
