- Subject: XML SIG 17 September: Elliotte Rusty Harold on What's Wrong with XML APIs (and How to Fix Them)
- From: "W. E. Perry" <wperry@fiduciary.com>
- Date: Thu, 12 Sep 2002 08:27:20 -0400
- Organization: Fiduciary Automation
As Elliotte announced here in July
[http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/1281979], he will be
presenting his conclusions from an investigation of XML APIs and his own
candidate for a better solution:
Elliotte Rusty Harold has spent the last year exhaustively documenting
the existing APIs, and this convinced him that better APIs are
desperately needed. On September 17, he's going to reveal XOM, his
candidate for the next generation of XML APIs. He plans to prove by
example that it is possible to design an XML API that is absolutely
correct with respect to XML 1.0 (something that none of DOM, JDOM,
ElectricXML, XMLPULL, or dom4j can claim) while being easy to learn and
use.
If you can be in downtown Manhattan 7 - 9 p.m. next Tuesday evening and
would like to reserve a place at this meeting, please send a request by
email OFFLIST direct to me mailto:wperry@xml-sig.org, and I will send
you a confirmation by return email.
