Is it really too radical to question whether the W3C is the appropriate
forum for relevant consensus? A consensus within the W3C matters only
insofar as it could be an indication of what some software juggernauts
might be rolling out. Is this the real meaning of the "it's the only game
in town" FUD?

It seems the official line is that organizational politics aren't really
getting in the way.
Here's a litmus test: do you think the Members Area as a possible resting
place for WG mailing lists is good thing overall or a bad thing overall?
