Too hard. Too political. I've no intention of going through the COM,
Corba (and what the heck -- throw in Java/RMI and OODCE) wars again.
XML is data. Okay, sure, great, fine. A serialized object being sent
over the network is also data. An operation invocation sent over the wire
is also data: either one of the magic REST keywords (GET POST etc) or
something else.
*It's all data.*
Just because the "classic" distributed computing folks bought into the XML
hype and are using it for their kind of programming is no reason for
everyone else to get their knickers in a twist.
