To achieve XSLT in Internet Explorer you need MSXML3 (or higher), which was not installed by default in IE5.0.
Take a look at http://www.netcrucible.com/ for a summary of the situation. The XSLT FAQ explains the history and how to fix things in IE.
Then you need to visit the Microsoft site to download an updated version.
