I've offered privately to do just that, either with my own resources or
perhaps with my employer's resources.
I find the W3C's continuous lack of interest in providing IANA-like
registration procedures very strange, and can't say I'd expect the IETF
to clean up the W3C's mess very happily. There's this strange delusion
abroad at the W3C that URIs solve all problems, and getting past that
seems a larger obstacle than the mechanics of setting up a registration
system.
