I give a lot of credit to the REST folks for making me think (too) hard
about this set of issues.

The circularity bit never made me happy, nor did the "paraphenomenal
abstract thing" (nice phrase!), but I think I can live with "ain't no
such thing" or at least a more contingent thing without too much
difficulty.

That conclusion tells me that resources are what we say they are, and
that recognizing the chaos this entails is the first step toward
developing practices that help me find my own bits of order in the murk.
Sounds good to me, and lets me stop worrying about a range of issues,
notably equivalence across contexts.
