Seema,
I'm not sure what type of parsers you'd be interested in writing
(pull-model, push-model, etc.) but Dare Obasanjo has an excellent
article this month on XML.com [1] that describes the various types of
XML APIs and the differences between them. Also, [2] is a good list of
parsers that are currently available, if you'd like to use them for
reference.
