Dear Colleagues,
Frustrated with the tantalizing amount of TLA and FLA within the XML and
Web Services Acronym Soup (XAS ;-) we started an open-source XML-based
project named the "XML Acronym Demystifier" [1].
We decided to collect XML and Web Service related acronyms and
abbreviations together with their explanation and short introductory
texts stating that the thing identified by the acronym is all about.
Additionally, every acronym is accompanied with at least a link to more
information or directly to the originating spec if possible.
The project is strongly based on XML technology since the data source
holding the acronyms and their explanations is a XML file. Furthermore,
also the search engine available at [1] is purely XML-based since it is
implemented as a XSLT transformation which is parametrized by the values
supplied by the Web form.
All sources (the XML source, all the transformations) are available
online, as well as results suitable to be used inside the Babylon
translater or a representation as Topic Map (RDF will shortly follow).
We invite all readers of XML-DEV to use the service and also to
contribute to the project.
Best regards,
Mario
