   Schema validators

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]

I am not sure if this is the right place to post but I hope someone can...

I am trying to find a validating parser which supports W3C XML Schema, is there one that supports everything? The reason I ask is that I am trying to enforce unique values across an entire document and MSXML 4.0 did not report an error when values were duplicated (sample files below). The XML validating parser used in XMLSpy and Xerces both reported an error.

correct_0.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<root xmlns="http://www.test.co.uk"; xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"; xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.test.co.uk correct_0.xsd">
	<a id="x"/>
	<a id="y"/>
	<a id="y"/>
</root>

correct_0.xsd
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsd:schema targetNamespace="http://www.test.co.uk"; xmlns="http://www.test.co.uk"; xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"; elementFormDefault="qualified" attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
	<xsd:element name="root" type="myList">
		<xsd:unique name="myId">
			<xsd:selector xpath="./a"/>
			<xsd:field xpath="@id"/>
		</xsd:unique>
	</xsd:element>
	<xsd:complexType name="myList">
		<xsd:sequence>
			<xsd:element name="a" maxOccurs="unbounded">
				<xsd:complexType>
					<xsd:attribute name="id" type="xsd:NCName"/>
				</xsd:complexType>
			</xsd:element>
		</xsd:sequence>
	</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:schema>

Finally, is there a way of validating a number of XML files contained in directories and sub-directories in one go similar to the xslt directory transform available in Saxon.

Thanks in advance
Harvey
