I will encourage folks to take a look at this:

What I try to say here are:
we can come up with practices for normalization for XML, to come up with
good designs.

Second, we do propose a different theory for unnesting XML to
relational, this is different from nested relational model.. I feel this
is more suited for XML, based on how I feel people try to think about XML.

This might satisfy some curious folks that it might be possible to use XML
for good data management..
