It is a joint activity of ISO JTC1 and ITU-T. The project has been recently
approved both in ISO and in the ITU-T. It will result in a new ITU-T
Recommendation named X.695 - ASN.1 support for web services and the XML
information set.
At the heart of this work is the use of X.694 to translate XML Schema
schemas into ASN.1, and the subsequent use of PER to produce compact
encodings of header blocks and message parts.
