True. But there are patterns one can easily recognize
and use to discern when something said to be standard isn't,
or that an activity announced as a standards making activity
is in effect, simply a way to derail an effort that is and
actively harm an industry.
If we can't tell the difference, we are the wrong guys for our jobs.

The meaning probably changes as the context changes,
so this kind of discussion can last forever, since people don't seem to be
