Good point Mike, otherwise this would imply that we are the data and our
address book record the meta-data. I know in the case of startreck and Mr
Data this sounds true but for us mortals....being called data is not the
supreme compliment to say the least :-)
I wonder how winFS will extract the meta-data from the data (i.e. the files)
and what kind of algorithm it will use. Will it be an automated process (and
probable error due to the algorithms especially in the case of statistical
processing compared to linguistic processing), will it be a manual process
(just observe how zealous people are with actual document management systems
asking to fill some meta-data :-), will it be both? Anyway, meta-data in the
context of the intranet is a completely different ball game. Will winFs
sufficiently expandable to allow the replacement of the automated
classification engine? If yes, just having a common publishing format is a
great gain. Will it be RDF or a new MicrosoftML language?
