Sure, no one is saying rdf/owl/... is new science (though there has been
a lot of advances in, say, description logics, since Tarski, it is not
rdf that has made them), it's adapting known stuff to use on the web, to
use global identifiers, to piece together bits of ontology, and to do so
according to some standards.
That's the potential value.
