This is the wrong place for my response. This

is the right place. A blog lets me bloviate without
further damaging the reputation of XML-Dev.
I think Linus's comparison is apropos even if open
source isn't the topic. Collaboration, software and marriage
are too hard to maintain or improve when keeping the wrong secrets.

Did witchcraft die out? If witchcraft is the opposite of science, consider
how many schools in the U.S. insist that the biblical account of man's
origin be taught in lieu of, or along side of, the theory of evolution. To
me, the analogy promises Microsoft a long and fruitful life.
