I think it evident that web != (hypermedia | hypertext) and that
is why what Nelson said in that article isn't as relevant today.
The web started there but progressed beyond those notions. Hypermedia is a
evolutionary step to a modern GUI-interface over a database and a
network plus, but texts-As-The-System is too limiting a concept.
o XML as a transport payload (text with markup)
o XML as a service payload (markup with state metadata)
o XML as a presentation application
o XML as an archival/hydrated format
and so on. Evil is getting a good workout.
