Or maybe learn what BNF is which gives an idea of grammars which will lead 
to the concepts of abstraction you need. You don't need a degree in Comp 
Sci for that :-)
The people who wrote the 2666 lines of XSLT all have degrees in Comp Sci, 
so that maybe isn't an answer...
