"Active Tags" : a framework for XML Native Programming

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]

People that have a knowledge of XQuery, XSLT, Ant, JSP/PHP/ASP, Cocoon,
XMLBeans, taglibs and many others should recognize any of them in
"Active Tags".

" Active Tags is a set of specifications that allow to use XML tags as
actions to perform.
Active Tags specifies a framework for XML Native Programming where usual
procedure-oriented sentences can be mixed with declarative sentences.
Active Tags tightly integrates XML technologies in an extensible,
powerful, and efficient machinery that offers means to handle with ease
XML materials and other non-XML materials like if they were XML. "

Read more here :

If you need a quick overview, just read the chapter 1 and 2 or only the
chapter 2 (examples) of the main document :
http://disc.inria.fr/perso/philippe.poulard/xml/active-tags/active-tags/active-tags.html

Of course, there is a software that implements all the stuff (called
RefleX), but it has not been released yet (please, be patient !)

As the todo list contains billions of items, anybody may be involved.
It's just the beginning. I know that many things are missing : many
specialized module (RDBMS, LDAP, etc), or even fix gaps in the core
documents (data types, catalogs, etc); there are also many things to fix
in the implementation.

Please send any feedback to xml-dev@lists.xml.org
